Since the last post, I've actually made changes to my workflow. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of the USD workflow in Solaris, but I was sorely mistaken.

I found what I now believe to the best workflow (at least for cases where geometry has to be scattered, like with my grass and trees), and it has allowed me to speed up my progress significantly.

By making the geometry that needs to scattered into a usd, referencing that usd in Solaris, and then using the instancer node (as opposed to using copy to points in SOPs), the geometry loads much faster, which also leads to USDs being exported quicker when I need to send things to the render farm.

With this new workflow, I was able to finish rendering all of grass, but I realized I forgot to render the fill light, so I need to re-render most of those frames. I also changed to this workflow for my trees and am in the process of re-rendering those as well.

The video below has completed bandshell, instruments, audience, grass, trees, and environment (although it's hard to see it in these shots). The only thing missing in these shots is the sky, but even after it's rendered, you can't really see it in these shots.

I have yet to put these frames through a denoiser, but it will look much better after that's done.
